Mobile applications

A mobile app is useful when a task benefits from a focused experience on a phone. I work with React Native, including the separate Job Near Me mobile project currently in development.

Choose the mobile journey

We will identify the tasks people need on the move and decide what belongs in the app. Navigation, clear feedback and the relationship with an existing web service come first.

Connect the app to its services

An app needs dependable APIs and a considered approach to authentication and data. Device testing and release preparation belong in the scope from the beginning.

Plan the first release

Bring the intended audience, essential tasks and any existing backend. We can define a practical first version and agree how it will be tested. The Job Near Me mobile project is in progress; no store release is claimed.

Give the app a clear purpose

A useful mobile brief starts with the moments when someone reaches for their phone. They might need to find an opportunity, review a saved item, update their profile or respond to an application. We can shape those journeys into a manageable set of screens and decide how they relate to any existing website, rather than trying to copy every web feature.

Work with the backend you have

Where an application already exists, we will review its APIs, account model and permissions before planning the mobile work. That helps identify what can be reused and what needs adapting. Loading states, interrupted connections, expired sessions and helpful error messages are part of the experience too; any offline requirements need to be agreed explicitly.

Test and prepare the release

We will agree the target platforms, supported devices and essential journeys before development. Release preparation can include device checks, build configuration and the information needed for a store submission. Store accounts, review requirements and ongoing update responsibilities should be planned into the engagement. A staged first release gives you a clear basis for collecting feedback and deciding what comes next.
